Oak Class

Oak Class

Hello and a big welcome to Oak Class (Upper Key Stage 2 - Years 5 and 6).

In Oak class, we are hard working and dedicated learners who push ourselves to achieve the very best that we can. The adults in our class that help us to do this are: Mrs Smith, Mr Setchell, Mrs Deacon and Mrs Platt.

During our two years in Oak class we will be given the opportunity to take on a range of responsbilities which have an impact on the wider school community; these give us the change to experience what it is like to have different roles and to be accountable for what we do. Our Prefects represent the school during formal events and open and close our daily collective worships. The House Captains represent their houses - cheering them on during house events and ensuring that the all important house points are correctly collected weekly. The Chairs of the Student Governing Body play an important role in ensuring that the views of the Student Governors are collected and shared with members of our school's leadership team.

Our learning is hugely important to us and we are always working hard to do the very best that we can - whether that be in Maths and Literacy lessons or in other areas of the curriculum such as French or Music. We take pride in the learning that we are part of and develop a range of different ways to present our work: written explanations, verbal presentations and speeches, presentations created on our chromebooks to name just a few.

Currently, as a class we are reading two books: The Adventures of Odysseus (which we are studying in our Literacy lessons) and Survivors (which we chose because it sounded incredibly interesting and inspiring).

Important things for Oak Class to remember:

  • Home learning is given out on a Monday and returned for a Friday.

  • Our P.E. takes place every Tuesday afternoon.

  • We should aim to read every night and this can be either a book from home or a school book.
