Welcome to TV Stars Class Page
We are a very special class of foundation children. The name of our class is TV stars and we really are super star learners!
Our whole school Creative Curriculum topic is Film and Television!
This term we have been thinking about mini-beasts!
We have already been on a mini beast hunt and have created our own class non fiction book.
We have really enjoyed looking at life cycles. We have focused on the life cycle of a frog and of a butterfly. We wrote some brilliant instructions all about how to turn into a butterfly! One of our favourite class texts has been 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' We have created a class caterpillar, full of adjectives describing the caterpillar.
We have still got lots of learning to come, when we will be thinking all about spiders and snails, as well as linking to our whole school topic with the film 'A bugs life.'
In Numeracy we have been focusing on graphs, we have created block graphs and pictograms, all linking to mini beasts.
This week we took a look at the symmetry in the nature around us and focused on the symmetry of a butterfly. We have made some great symmetrical patterns and painted our own symmetrical butterflies.
In phonics we have been learning lots of new sounds, our favourite part of phonics is when we get to do the actions and sing the songs. We are really focusing on our blends, reading both real and pretend works to check our understanding.
During child initiated time we have demonstrated that we are learning a lot. We spend time both inside and outside and we are able to choose what we would like to do. Inside our role play corner is a Farm Shop. We have really enjoyed taking on the roles of shop keeper and customer. We have demonstrated our writing skills, keeping stock books up to date and writing our own shopping lists. We have needed our Numeracy skills to help us count out money and give change. We have also been in charge of changing the clock.
Have a look at some of our photos of us at school. Keep checking back for updates!
