Welcome To Internet Surfers Class
During the spring terms, our creative curriculum topic is Film and Television. Beginning with a look at a short animation 'The Piano' we experienced the importance of a film's soundtrack to add mood and emotion to the images in a film. Subsequent lessons involved creating dialogues and monlogues for the characters in the animation and we have learnt about empathy by visualising ourselves as the characters.
Although our maths doesn't always link to our topic, we have been learning to use the grid method for multiplication, very handy to calculate the number of frames required for our own animation project. This animation project, based on the book "Tadpole's Promise" by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross, comes after creating some of our own flip-book animation. The movie 'Pop Bang' below was created by taking photos of a flip book and using Windows Movie Maker to edit them together!
Just around the corner is our residential trip to Swattenden Centre, when once again we will be alongside our friends from Smarden school. Finally, we are all looking forward to a visit to the Harry Potter experience after half-term and learning more about special effects and make-up.
Our creative curriculum topic for the first two terms was Newspapers.
We have been learning about the different features of newspapers and have been creating our own newspaper articles. On our recent task day we worked in groups to put together a newspaper with reports on our school trip to Wissant in France and our exciting European Languages Day.
We hope you enjoy following our progress through the year and discover all of the wonderful things we are learning about.
