In Literacy this week the children have written lists, letters and have continued to learn about structuring a story.

As part of our Mathematical Development we have been  continuing to work on number bonds and finding the difference between different numbers by counting on and back using a number line.

In Phonics we have started to look at alternative digraphs in phase 5. The digraphs we have covered so far are ie, ou and ea. We will be continuing to do this next week. If your child would like to do a challenge at home they can try to practise writing words that contain these sounds

Term 6 Week 1

This week Castle Class have been talking about creatures who live in Australia.

Australia is part of the Common Wealth and we created a dance to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday. We performed our dance at our special school tea party, to celebrate!

For the Queen’s tea party we also decorated cakes, made  sandwiches and designed souvenir keyrings!

In Literacy we have created a fact page about crocodiles.

As part of our Mathematical development we have been finding ways of making 8 using cubes, number-lines and  spiders legs!

On Wednesday we went to ’Wild Wood’. We observed many animals including wolves, bears, snakes, wild horses, deer and bison. We also saw a wolf being fed, and had a very interesting workshop about mini-beasts.

We will continue to talk about mini-beasts next term, in addition to joining in with the whole school topic which is based around the Olympics.

Have a lovely holiday!

Term 5 Week 6

This week our work has been based around ‘Dinosaurs’.

We discovered a trail of bones outside our classroom, we also found a giant tooth and some foot prints!  The foot prints led us to a giant egg which had hatched!
