This week in Maths we have been doing lots of revision to prepare for the upcoming SATS to help the children consolidate their understanding in areas they are less confident in. In Literacy this week our focus has been poetry. We began the week by looking at a poem and unpicking the things that make that piece of text a poem. We then moved into looking at things like rhyming words and the rhyme scheme of a poem and wrote our own. Towards the end of the week we looked at alliteration and did this through looking at tongue twisters, which the children loved! In RE we have started studying other world faiths, in particular: Islam. We looked at lots of keywords around Islam and what they mean. The children were even beginning to make comparisons to Christianity explaining how they are similar in some ways, but not in others. And finally, in topic this week, we began practicing sewing skills to help lead us up to making our own, mini, superhero costumes. We have started with creating bookmarks to practice using a needle and thread and using little stitches - which every single child really excelled at!
Please visit our photo page for pictures of the sewing, and to see just how hard the children were concentrating and persevering!
