Welcome to Roe Deer class page!
In our class we have a mixture of Year 5 children and Year 6 children. Our class teacher is Miss Caie and our Teaching Assistant is Miss Breach. On this page you will find lots of important information about our learning and our homework. Please remember to also check in with our Class Dojo page for information too.
Hello and welcome to term 5! This term our topic is 'It's a Mystery' where we will be using our magnifying glasses to solve a range of investigations. In Science and Maths we will be taking part in lots of investigations, with a Science week in weeks 2 and 3. In Literacy we are going to read 'The London Eye Mystery' to inspire our writing based upon investigations. Street art will be the focus of our work within our Art lessons, we will be using spray paints to create our own pieces (on paper). In History we will look deeper into the different periods of time that lead to the way we live today, starting with looking at how developments happened during the tone age.
Alongside this, we will be focusing on our KS2 production of Matilda. Our performance will be on Tuesday 17th July and we would be so grateful to see you there for support.
This term we will be having lots of exciting learning experiences linked to healthy eating, the human body and recycling. Our topic is called Everybody happy, everybody healthy. In Music and Art we are going to be using recycled materials. We will be inspired by the west end musical Stomp and will be recreating our own version using classroom equipment. In Art we will be discovering lots of different textures that can be made using materials other that a paint brush. D&T will be all about healthy cooking. We will explore several way to keep our diet balanced and healthy and will be creating our own balanced meal. Science will be all about the circulatory system, looking at the functions of our heart and veins and what role the blood plays within our bodies.
The book we will be looking at in Literacy will be Skellig by David Almond. A wonderful author who was written a whole range of books. I would really recommend popping along to the library to find more of his writing to read!
