Badgers

Welcome to Badgers class page!

Welcome to Badgers Class’ class page.

Mrs Platt and I are looking forward to a fantastic year full of fun learning activities. On this page you will find lots of important information about our learning and our homework. Please remember to check in to our Class Dojo page for information too.

Welcome to Term 2 and our exciting topic, Remember, Remember! In Literacy we will start with learning about and explaining The Gunpowder Plot – when, where, what, who and why. We will then write poems about Fireworks night. Linking with music, geography and history we will learn about myths from around the UK, describing the geography of the surrounding areas, focusing on their human and physical features. Finally, we will then use fables to explore the importance of telling the truth.

In Maths we will learn to measure length and height and then develop our data handling skills to create and interpret tables and graphs for our results. As Christmas approaches we will improve our knowledge of 3D shapes as we investigate their properties and why some Christmas presents are trickier to wrap than others.

We are looking forward to rehearsing and performing the Christmas Nativity, linking to our learning in RE of why Christmas is important to Christians and preparing us all to celebrate this special time of year.

Welcome to Term 5 in Badgers Class,

We are looking forward to another fun-filled term learning through our topic, Famous People, Past and Present. We will start with The Great Fire of London, using different text types to record our learning in Literacy. We will be practising our Maths and Reasoning skills to prepare children for the SATs Tests in May. Obviously some children can become nervous taking any tests and we are working hard to reassure them that they just need to try their best. Any support you can provide at home, even if it’s just ensuring they complete their homework, is beneficial and much appreciated. We all need to remember – it’ll be over in less than a week.

Please see below for this term’s Topic Web and Homework Grid.

The tadpoles are back! The children were delighted to see the tadpoles return after their half-term holiday with their very many brothers and sisters at my house. They are doing well but no legs yet.

Watch this space: we should be getting more visitors later this term, Mrs Parkman and I are busy hatching plans, but we don’t want to spoil the eggsiting surprise. Can you guess what they are? Ssshhh!

Mrs Earll-Shand

Welcome to Term 6, the final term of the school year.

SATs are over and we are ready to have an amazing term of learning centred around our topic the Stone Age.  We will learn what life was like during this interesting period of human development.

Below are this term’s Topic Web and Homework Grid, which provide more details of the learning that will take place.

Due to SATs we delayed the arrival of additions to our classroom but they are coming.  Our tadpoles are getting bigger, one has already turned into a froglet and been released into the pond in the front garden, say hello.  As for the others, they do not have a single leg between them!  Very odd.
